Resources for Parents, Providers and Caregivers

Here are some of our favorite books and websites. Please note that these resources are provided for general information purposes only and do not constitute professional or legal advice on any topic.

Children’s Books

Health, Wellness and Nutrition

These sites cover information ranging from healthy living and nutrition to diseases, conditions and childhood challenges such as ADHD, asthma, autism, diabetes and learning disabilities.

KidsHealth is an excellent site for parents that also includes interactive information designed for younger children and teens.

MayoClinic.com and Cleveland Clinic both have comprehensive websites offering a wealth of helpful medical information.

In regards to nutrition, I used to recommend MyPlate.gov as a great place to start, but now I am more comfortable with the information provided in Harvard’s Healthy Eating Plate, for reasons mentioned in this comparison.

Autism Spectrum

Elemy, which specializes in personalized pediatric behavioral care, has a free guide to support parents who have a child recently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It serves to educate parents and caretakers of neurodivergent children on all aspects of ASD, giving them a better understanding of what it means for their child and for their family, as well as how to move forward.

Elemy also has an Autism Resources & Help page for parents, teachers and allies plus a guide designed to assist parents with an autism-diagnosed child to better understand the three general levels of autism as well as the unique therapy approaches for each.
